The Divide: Why California may pass a new law on digital discrimination

This episode features Shayna Englin, director of the digital equity initiative at the California Community Foundation; as well as Kevin Miller, who serves as board president of the Fresno Coalition for Digital Inclusion. 

We discuss the issue of digital discrimination in the US broadband space – including how and where it shows up in the state of California, and why their organizations are supporting a bill introduced in the California Assembly that would seek to define and end digital discrimination across the state.

Since this episode was recorded (on May 20), the bill – introduced by Assemblywoman Mia Bonta – has passed the California State Assembly and now awaits a vote in the Senate.
