FREMONT, Calif. and BASINGSTOKE, U.K. -- iOra today announced that BT has selected iOra Mobile Intranet as part of its Knowledge Management initiative for its Major Business sales and services team. BT has already delivered bottom line benefits of over 1 Billion pounds Sterling in the first two years with Knowledge Management initiatives. With 60% of the team working either from home or regularly traveling with laptops, it was important to provide them with offline access to the information held on the intranet. Following a successful trial, the 1500 strong team can now choose permanent access to "BT Today" and "InfoPower", BT's award winning sales portal. iOra Mobile Intranet provides offline access to business information and through high speed synchronization ensures that information is rapidly and securely updated whenever the user connects again, even over wireless GPRS and 3G connections. "We have already gained a 28% increase in win rate and an enormous competitive advantage through Knowledge Management in our sales team," said Simon Mills Head of Knowledge Management at BT. "We recognize that sales people spend around 40% of their time away from the office. Now with iOra they will have 100% access to critical knowledge and we anticipate further increases in productivity, customer service and success. Business agility is key to business growth and maintaining competitive edge. With laptops, mobile phones and PDAs, our sales people are highly mobile examples of how productive our clients can be. With iOra, all the valuable information on 'InfoPower' is as mobile as the workforce themselves and our people are getting even more value from our Knowledge Management investments." iOra's solution fully extends the corporate intranet to every member of a mobile workforce. Users can now access the portal from airport lounges, trains, planes and customer meetings with the exact ease and speed of being in the office -- but without needing a connection. The look and feel of the BT intranets is exactly the same whether online or offline, maintaining the same ease of navigation and information retrieval. A key element of iOra's solution is its Epsilon Technology, which compresses changes to the BT intranets by over 90%. This allows many megabytes of BT intranet content to be highly compressed and synchronized in a matter of kilobytes instead. This means that BT mobile staff can synchronize in a matter of seconds even over slow dialup or wireless connections. British Telecom (BT) iOra Inc.
