[Barcelona, Spain, February 26, 2024] Bob Chen, President of Huawei Optical Business Product Line, launched OptiX OSN 9800 K36, the industry's first OTN product for data center (DC) scenarios at the Huawei Optical Products and Solutions Launch during MWC Barcelona 2024. The product will support global operators to build F5.5G all-optical target networks and accelerate the development of 10G ultra broadband, kicking off the commercialization of F5.5G.

In the digital era, higher demands have been placed on the network experience of individuals, households, and enterprises. In addition, service scope and depth in various industries are continuously expanded, driving the rapid popularization of cloud-based and computing services in all aspects of our society. While boosting innovation and transformation, emerging applications also pose higher requirements on network devices in terms of capacity, energy consumption, and agile O&M.

As the industry's first OTN product designed for DC scenarios, Huawei OptiX OSN 9800 K36 is first to introduce the design concept of front-to-rear airflow for energy-efficient DC equipment rooms. It uses a series of innovative heat dissipation technologies, such as intelligent Hato fans and thermally conductive materials, to significantly improve the heat dissipation feature of boards and reduce power consumption, achieving green construction for DCs. The brand-new Huawei OptiX OSN 9800 K36 features three innovations.

First, the single-wavelength capacity is upgraded to 1.6 Tbit/s, and the capacity is increased fourfold, with the per-bit cost reduced by 30%.

Second, the product adopts the industry's first dual 3D orthogonal architecture, flexibly splits service boards, doubles the number of supported slots, and supports ultra-high-speed SerDes interconnection. Moreover, the capacity of a single subrack reaches 100 Tbit/s. All of this enables the product to easily cope with traffic surges in the digital era.

Third, the built-in intelligent unit implements detection and real-time intelligent fault analysis within milliseconds, supports accurate construction of digital optical networks, secures the optimal working state for networks, and improves the network availability.

Continuous breakthroughs in optical transmission networks and continuous evolution in optical technologies are required to efficiently transmit huge volumes of data and allocate diverse computing resources across cloud networks on demand. The release of Huawei OptiX OSN 9800 K36 will undoubtedly provide strong support for operators to deal with traffic surges, reduce costs, improve efficiency, save energy, and promote the development of new services, driving the continuous growth of the digital economy.
