[Barcelona, Spain, February 26, 2024] During Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, Bob Chen, President of the Huawei Optical Business Product Line, officially launched OptiXaccess MA5800T which is a next-generation smart optical line terminal (OLT) platform for the 10G era at Huawei's ICT solution and product launch event. The new OLT platform is the ideal evolution platform for the 10G era, helping operators maintain a competitive edge in fixed broadband in the next 10 years.

In the 10G era, smart home, smart enterprise, and smart manufacturing all pose higher requirements on optical access networks. When PON evolves to 50G PON, the line-rate forwarding reaches the Tbit/s level, which poses higher requirements on the forwarding capability of the OLT. Operators are gradually shifting from bandwidth monetization to experience monetization, from broadband rate competition to experience competition in low latency, high reliability, and deterministic experience. In addition, operator networks are evolving to a highly autonomous network with self-service subscription, lossless services, and premium experience is required to support the evolution.

The rapid growth of network requirements calls for infrastructure upgrade. Huawei launches the next-generation smart OLT platform MA5800T to build a ubiquitous 10G all-optical base for a fully connected, intelligent world through three leading features:

  • Ultra-high bandwidth: The industry's first 2T ultra-broadband backplane increases the switching capacity by 10 times, meeting the evolution requirements in the next 10 years, and supporting evolution to next-generation 200G PON. The platform is also forward compatible with previous-generation boards, protecting operators' investment.

  • Deterministic experience: The industry's first TDM+IP dual-plane elastic forwarding architecture provides deterministic SLA assurance through intelligent application awareness and automatic slice mapping, achieving microsecond-level latency and nanosecond-level jitter and meeting differentiated bearer requirements of integrated access networks.

  • Native intelligence: The industry's first distributed computing engine is used to implement cross-home Wi-Fi optimization, application-level poor-QoE identification, and open NaaS capability through millisecond-level automatic detection, analysis, and optimization, helping operators move towards intelligent operation era.

In the future, Huawei will continue to invest and innovate in access network and work with global operators, customers, and partners to bring optical connections to everywhere and build a fully connected, intelligent world.
