PARIS -- Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that Bouygues Telecom of France has selected the Alcatel-Lucent IP/MPLS-based mobile backhaul solution to flexibly support the anticipated smartphone data deluge. According to a recent PricewaterhouseCoopers survey, one in four French residents, which is more than 18 million people, will be equipped to access mobile broadband services in 2014. As a result, the French operator is evolving its network with a smarter, more converged, cost-effective mobile transport network infrastructure - enabling simplified operations and improving profitability.

“By leveraging our High Leverage Network architecture, Alcatel-Lucent enables Bouygues Telecom to economically and efficiently upgrade its Radio Access Network to a flatter IP/Ethernet network while increasing its bandwidth capacity to support new services. Helping our customers effectively transform their networks is critical to help them increase their revenue and provide a better service experience to their end users,” said Adolfo Hernandez, President of Alcatel-Lucent EMEA.

Alcatel-Lucent will deploy its 7750 Service Router (SR) and 7705 Service Aggregation Router (SAR) along with the Alcatel-Lucent 5620 Service Aware Manager (SAM). Alcatel-Lucent will provide a full range of comprehensive business transformation services including network design, installation, integration, testing and system maintenance.
