Sandvine is partnering with Spirit Telecom, a broadband access provider and bandwidth provider to 60 rural telephone companies in the US South East

WATERLOO, Ontario, COLUMBIA, South Carolina, and MCMINNVILLE, Tenn. -- Sandvine Incorporated, a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions announced today, it is partnering with Spirit Telecom, a broadband access provider and bandwidth provider to 60 rural telephone companies in the US South East. Sandvine also announced that Ben Lomand Telephone Cooperative has selected Sandvine's Attack Traffic Mitigation Solution.

Spirit will extend Sandvine's reach to rural broadband providers and resell its suite of intelligent broadband network solutions. Spirit will provide pre-sales engineering expertise and first-level support for Sandvine products and solutions.

Ben Lomand Telephone Cooperative and its subsidiary, Volunteer Wireless, one of Spirit's Licensees, provides its 8,500 high-speed subscribers protection from malicious attacks such as Spam Trojans, DoS, and worms, using Sandvine's Attack Traffic Mitigation Solution. Sandvine's Attack Traffic Mitigation uses a signature and behavior detection technique to stop malicious traffic in the network before it reaches the end subscriber.

"Sandvine's Attack Traffic Mitigation solution allows us to protect our subscribers and their applications," said Joe Hamby Jr., Internet Technical Administrator at Ben Lomand Telephone. "The Sandvine solution has basically eliminated the abuse complaints we receive from the rest of the Internet community. I would normally receive about five to ten complaints per week. Since deploying Sandvine - I can't recall the last time I received one."
