ONI Revenues Hit $9.5 Million

SAN JOSE, CA - ONI Systems(TM) Corp. (NASDAQ: ONIS), a leading provider of optical telecommunications systems for the metropolitan and regional markets, today reported net revenues of $9.5 million and a net loss of $(20.0) million or $(0.18) per diluted share, excluding non-recurring, non-cash charges related to the amortization of deferred stock compensation and goodwill, common stock warrant expense and the beneficial conversion feature on preferred stock. This is the first quarterly report since the company commenced public trading of its common stock on June 1, 2000.
